Research Title: Aging Concerns, Challenges, and Everyday Solution Strategies (ACCESS 3) Needs Assessment

Being conducted by: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; Georgia Institute of Technology

Purpose of the Study

We are conducting an interview study that explores the everyday activities and challenges of older adults with long-term vision difficulties from various backgrounds. We are interested in understanding what the challenges are and how they manage these challenges as they age.

Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study

The study consists of two parts:

Part 1: Screening, Consent & Questionnaires (45-60 minutes): After you complete the phone screening and agree to participate, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire about your background/demographics (e.g., age, health, sensory, and physical abilities) as well as a questionnaire about your vision.

Part 2: Interview (1-1.5 hours): During the interview, you will be asked about everyday challenges and how you handle them. All interviews will be audio recorded for transcription.

Proposed Participant Compensation

Yes, You will be compensated with Amazon E-codes for the collective amount of $50.00. Payments will be distributed after you complete part 1 (consent and background questionnaire; $20.00) and part 2 (interview; $30) or at the end of participation. You can request an alternative form of compensation (i.e., a check), which may take longer. Additional e-code compensation may be offered for interviews that run longer (prorated at $15/hour).
