[gui-talk] problems with my new Braille note

That makes sense, but my old Braille note didn't take that long to reset.
Perhaps because there are some new things with the apex, that might be why
it takes so long to reset.

I don't use a Braille Note, but both those behaviors sound normal to me.  It
will take some time to reset, nothing is instant, and you loose the date and
time with most devices, with a reset.  It is a reset after all, it is
putting things back to a default state.
