[gui-talk] can a computer go backwards by itself

Ken,

I don't think that the existence of the Eloquence synthesizer necessarily means anything. I have had that happen with other synthesizers when I installed
and then uninstalled a demo. It is probably an error on the part of the demo because it should be removed, but I don't think I would assume that it got
brought back because of virus activity. Most likely it was always there.

It sounds to me as though you have done everything you should have done, although all three of those programs need to be updated regularly. Also, after
you have done a scan, Microsoft Security Essentials should be reporting that your computer is protected.

Certainly having disk space used up without your knowledge is also cause for concern. Again, though, disk space does get used by temporary internet files
and by various updates. How much space to you have, how much is remaining, and about how much extra space has been used raising concerns? A low
amount of free disk space can degrade performance as can a fragmented disk drive.

You might try running disk cleanup and also defragment your disk drive. These tools are located in "Accessories" perhaps in System Tools, but you can
sometimes run them by highlighing the drive in Windows Explorer and bringing up "Properties". There is sometimes a "maintenance" tab. Good luck.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
