Hi Lloyd --
I found them without even looking... turns out that Word has a checkbox in 
the general options to turn on sound effects, and the first time you check 
that box, Word gives you the link to go to to download the sounds.  I did 
run into an annoyance however.  The sound I am interested in, that of 
correcting mistyped words, is not loud enough for me to hear.  I tried 
turning up the volume of my speakers and listening as I made a common typo, 
and I thought I heard a tiny click.  That's just not loud enough.  I am 
wondering how I can replace it with something more substantial.

Laura, the sound effects are a Word add-on.  I have it installed in Word
2003 at home and at work.  You may want to go into the Windows Sounds part
of Control Panel, because some of them become tiresome after a while.  And
even with your hearing impairment, I expect you will be able to hear most of
them.

They are available from Microsoft as about a 500K file, but I don't remember
how I found it.  Google, Bing or Office Help might be your friend.
