I find the groups mode and DOM choices  in VoiceOver to be far  
superior and more flexible than the JAWS table approach for reading  
tabular data.
For example if one is reading a Gmail web page although Google has  
formulated the mailbox as a table JAWs refuses to read some of the  
columns as a strict column approach when arrowing down in table  
reading mode. Groups mode and DOM  in VoiceOver permits the  
presentation to more closely resemble the actual visual web page so  
the columns come across naturally.
