Greetings and felicitations:

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the accessibility (to
blind users) of your website: https://preview.disneyplus.com/. I and a
number of other blind people have attempted, unsuccessfully, to sign up for
the soon-to-be-launched streaming service.

People who are totally blind use screen reading software to convert text
displayed on the screen to speech or braille. This software is used on
Windows computers (e.g., JAWS for Windows or NVDA) or on Apple Macintosh
computers (VoiceOver). In the case of a Windows system, browsers such as
Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and/or Microsoft Internet Explorer are the
browsers that are used. In the case of a Macintosh computer or a product
running iOS, the Safari browser is what a blind person would use.

The accessibility problems appear when the new user needs to supply
information that Disney Plus asks for to get them signed up-information such
as one's email address, credit card number, etc. Simply put, the forms used
on the Disney Plus website are not adhering to the accessibility guidelines
promulgated by the Worldwide Web Consortium-guidelines that are widely
distributed and well known throughout the industry (refer to WCAG 2.0 and
2.1).

As a person who is well aware of the many good things that Disney has done
to promote nonvisual access, I am extremely frustrated and disappointed that
this problem even exists. Please get this fixed as soon as possible.

I can be reached by telephone at 303-745-0473 if anyone wants to discuss
this with me in person. In the meantime, thank you for your kind attention
to this problem.

Yours sincerely,

Curtis Chong
