Sunday Sounder service to Mariners

Mariners fans headed to Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers can get
there quickly and easily by taking special Sounder service. Trains leave
from Tacoma at 11 a.m. (stopping at Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent and
Tukwila) and from Everett at 11:15 a.m. (stopping at Mukilteo and Edmonds)
and arrive at King Street Station in plenty of time to walk to nearby Safeco
Field before the first pitch. Return trains leave 35 minutes after the game
ends so you won't miss a thing.

ST Express buses are another option, serving most cities in the region. For

U.S. Transportation Secretary visits

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Sen. Patty Murray and Governor
Christine Gregoire joined Sound Transit Board Chair Greg Nickels at the Link
Light Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility on Monday. As part of the
transportation secretary's economic stimulus tour of the Pacific Northwest,
the event highlighted the value of investing in transportation to provide
good jobs that boost our regional economy.

As an example, the Central Link light rail line that opens for public
service July 18 was built using:

           8.6 million labor hours

           more than 4,000 direct jobs

           more than 30,000 indirect jobs.

Speaking of economic stimulus, Sound Transit successfully competed for
federal stimulus funds and received $23 million for the Mountlake Terrace
Freeway Station, clean fuel buses in East King County, M-to-Lakewood
commuter rail improvements, Tukwila rail station and University Link
extension. University Link also got a boost with the release of $44 million
in New Starts funding this year rather than in 2016 as previously scheduled.
