Important information - Medicare Cards
Starting in April of 2018, Medicare started sending new cards to all who receive Medicare benefits.
Medicare will remove your social security number from the new cards in order to protect you from identity and financial fraud.
Medicare will mail your card, at no cost, to your mailing address.
The only change will be a new 11-digit number on the card. Your Medicare coverage and benefits will remain same.
Cards will not be mailed at the same time. You may receive your new card sooner than others.
Do not throw away your old card. It is best to shred it or cut up into tiny pieces so that your social security number is not showing.
Watch out for scams. You will not need to pay for your new Medicare card. It is free. If someone calls you or contacts you in some other way asking for your social security information and/or bank information, it is a scam.
Guard your new card. If you lose it, thieves can use it for medical services
For further questions, visit: gomedicare.gov/newcard. If someone steals your new card, report it to: FTCcomplaintassitant.gov.

The DeafBlind Service Center is a recent recipient of the ‘GIVEBIG Dollars for Change’ award. The Seattle Foundation randomly selected donations to increase by an additional $2,500.This award was recommended by Karen Carlson. Thank you Karen for your generosity in donating to DBSC and nominating us. We also would like to express our appreciation to all donors who value DBSC’s mission. Thank you!
