Everyone,

At this hour, the funeral services for Duane Smith are underway. It saddens me a great deal that Duane is gone from us, but knowing his fight with illness over the past few years, I am confident he is much better off without pain and/or suffering. Carol has been a trouper throughout Duane's illness, and we offer her our condolences and wish the whole family the best moving forward. Duane was a stalwart in the Snoking chapter, and I know he wished he could have been at more of the meetings as time went. on. He was definitely fun loving, funny, and a joy to be around.

He will be missed, certainly by me. RIP, Duane.

It is with great sadness that I write to tell you of the death of another member of our NFB of Washington family. Duane Smith, longtime leader and member in our SnoKing chapter died last week after a long battle with illness. Duane and his wife Carol were early leaders in our SnoKing chapter. Duane was always quick with a joke, pun and a smile. Below is a quote from his wife Carol’s Facebook posts. I have been keeping in touch with her and will be attending the funeral service on Wednesday.

From Carol: "After fighting to overcome his physical illnesses my sweet husband has returned to his Heavenly Father. He truly has been the love of my life."

Duane's funeral will be on Dec. 13th at 11:00 am.
The address is:
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
110 50th St. SW
Everett, WA 98203
There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00.
Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery
4504 Broadway
Everett, WA

I believe the family will be asking for donations in lieu of flowers. I will post that information when I have it.

If anyone wants to attend the service with me let me know so we can coordinate transportation. I will be taking Uber from the Everett station as the nearest bus stop is a 25 minute walk from the church.

Please keep Carol and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Marci Carpenter
