Just a reminder of upcoming experiences for youth through DSB:

 

      Assistive Technology and Low Vision Open House: April 25, 2013 - 1:00 to 7:00pm.  For children and families at DSB, Seattle, WA.

 

Youth Employment Solutions (YES) 2:  June 30 to August 9, 2013.  Seattle, WA. at University of Washington  

Focus on employment.  Offered to blind/visually impaired students age 16+ years old.  

Students work 30 hrs./week at various "starter" jobs in the Seattle community.  Students develop independent living skills, time management, travel and mobility skills.  Emphasis on social and recreation opportunities.

 

Youth Employment Solutions (YES) 1:  July 7 -18, 2013.  WSSB, Vancouver, WA.  

Focus on employment experience.  Offered to blind/visually impaired students  ages 14 - 15 years old.  Program offers career exploration activities such as career interest and aptitude assessments, worksite visitations, guest speakers, mock applications and interviews and resume development. Recreational and social activities are highlighted, and community service experience is offered.

 

Bridge:  July 14 to August 16, 2013.  Eastern Washington University, Cheney, WA.  

College preparation and experience with college-level coursework.  Offered to blind/visually impaired youth who have recently graduated from high school with interest in college/voc-tech/trade school.

 

Summer Camp for Independent Living Skills (SCILS) West Side:  July 22 - 26, 2013.  Seattle, WA. at University of Washington  

Using the Expanded Core Curriculum, training and activities offered for age-appropriate skills development for blind/visually impaired children ages 9-13.  

 

Summer Camp for Independent Living Skills (SCILS) East Side:  August 10-11, 2013.  Spokane WA.  

Using the Expanded Core Curriculum, training and activities offered for age-appropriate skills development for blind/visually impaired children ages 9-13.
