Research Title: The Accessibility of Online Job Applications for Job Seekers Who Are Blind & Low Vision
Being conducted by: New Jersey Institute of Technology
Purpose of the Study
Unemployment is a major concern in the blind and low vision community and accessibility issues with both searching for positions and the actual process of completing an application only add to difficulties alleviating this problem. This research investigates the emotional toll inaccessibility issues present to blind and low vision job seekers as well as possible negative effects and attitudes toward the offending employer. The attitudes and experiences to be captured in the responses accompanies a longitudinal study of practical accessibility assessments of job search websites and retail employers.
Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study
This is an online survey where participants will be asked to read a scenario and answer a few questions based on this scenario. Participants will also be asked about their previous experiences with employment as well as some demographic information. No identifying information is being collected and all responses are anonymous. A few questions are multiple choice and there are a few "fill in the blank" questions. The anticipated time to complete the survey is around five minutes.
Proposed Participant Compensation
No,
