Research Title: Exploring Privacy and Accessibility Perceptions of Augmented Reality Glasses Among Blind and Low-Vision Users

 

Being conducted by: The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA)

 

Purpose of the Study

This study explores how blind and low-vision individuals perceive the accessibility benefits and privacy implications of future augmented reality (AR) glasses. We are interested in understanding participants' experiences with current assistive technologies, their expectations for AR-based accessibility tools, concerns about privacy for themselves and others, and their preferences for privacy controls and design features. Findings from this study will help inform the design of AR technologies that are both accessible and privacy-conscious.

 

Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study 

Participants will take part in a one-on-one remote interview. During the interview, participants will be asked about their experiences with assistive technologies, their perspectives on future AR glasses, potential accessibility benefits, privacy concerns, and desired privacy features. The interview is expected to last approximately 60-75 minutes.

 

Proposed Participant Compensation

Yes, Participants who complete the interview will receive a $30 Amazon gift card as compensation for their time.
