Research Participation Request: Navigating Disability and Language: Physical Education Experiences of U.S Latinos and Latinas with Visual Impairments

 

The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.

Research Title: Navigating Disability and Language: Physical Education Experiences of U.S Latinos and Latinas with Visual Impairments

Being conducted by: Old Dominion University

Purpose of the Study

The purpose of this study is to amplify the voices of Latina/Latino students with visual impairments who are also English learners, focusing on their experiences in physical education settings. By taking an intersectional approach, this research seeks to understand how their unique identities shape their experiences, including the challenges they face and the strengths they bring. The goal is to learn from their stories to inform more inclusive and equitable practices that honor their diverse perspectives.

Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study 

Participants will take part in a one-on-one interview conducted either via phone or Zoom, depending on their preference. During the interview, they will share their experiences as Latina/Latino students with visual impairments who also identify as English learners, specifically in the context of physical education. Each interview is expected to last approximately 60–90 minutes. Participation is entirely voluntary, and all information shared will remain confidential.
