The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.

Members of NFB are invited to participate in a study investigating the relationship between disability advocates and genetic counselors, genetic counseling students, and genetic counseling training programs. This study aims to identify gaps in knowledge among genetic counselors regarding life with a disability and gather suggestions for how to improve disability training in genetic counseling training programs.

Participation would take a total of ~45 minutes. This includes:
*  A ~15-minute survey and consent process.
*  A  ~30-minute interview.
These will take place on Zoom, however, alternative forms of communications will be made available for those who require other options.

There are no direct benefits for participating. You are encouraged to forward this study along to advocates who are passionate about improving disability education in healthcare programs.

Requirements for participation:
*  Self-identify as having a disability.
* Have a known genetic component to their disability.
* Are actively involved in at least 1 advocacy group or organization
* Either have had genetic counseling themselves, or have family or friends who have had genetic counseling.
