[Nfbnet-members-list] Blind and low-vision adults needed for research study on use and accessibility of Avatars

The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.



Hi NFB members,


Hope this email finds you well. We are members of the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) research team in the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Wisconsin Madison. We are collaborating with the research teams at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and the City University of Hong Kong to study how blind and low-vision people use and perceive their avatars on social VR platforms. We are looking for blind and low-vision participants to understand their avatar experiences.

In this study, you will be interviewed over a zoom call about your experiences with social VR platforms and virtual avatars. The interview will last approximately one hour.

To participate in the study, you must:

1.   be at least 18 years old

2.   be blind or low-vision

3.   have experience using social VR platforms and avatars

4.   not have mental/cognitive disabilities

You will receive a $15/hour compensation for your participation.
