The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.

Participants Needed For A Study Involving Persons Living With Physical Disabilities (Including Low Vision/Blindness)

Researchers at Alliant International University are investigating the experiences and perspectives of people living with disabilities regarding their mental health treatment. This will be an online survey and is the first such study on the topic to include a broad spectrum of people with disabilities. However, for this first study, the focus is on persons with physical disabilities, low vision, and/or blindness. The resulting information can guide psychologists and other mental health professionals to appropriately adjust their practices and inform training on how to work better with this underserved population. In order to accommodate persons with physical disabilities, low vision, and/or blindness, participants will also have the option of completing the survey via telephone.

Who Should Participate?

In order to participate in the study, you must:

1. Have a physical disability, and/or low vision/blindness.

2. Be at least 18 years old or older and live in the U.S.

3. Have participated in psychotherapy at least once since the age of 18 and/or are currently seeing a licensed mental health professional for therapy (i.e., psychologist, clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist).

What will you do in the study?

1) Participants have the option to complete a survey questionnaire online or by phone. The survey is screen reader compatible.

2) Total time commitment of approximately 45 minutes, scheduled at your convenience. Note phone participation may take longer (approximately 60-90 minutes).

After completing the survey, you have the option to enter a raffle to win one of four Amazon.com gift cards.
