June Braille Monitor

What do Marc Maurer, Jim Marks, J.W. Smith, Brent Batron, and
Lorraine Rovig have in common? They all have an article about them or
written by them in the June Braille Monitor that you will not want to miss.

In the article Meet Our Division President, Marc Maurer succinctly
describes the role of divisions in the National Federation of the
Blind. Even at age 20, when he wrote this article as President of the
Student Division, Dr. Maurer had a way with words.

Long-time leaders Jim Marks and J. W. Smith share timeless wisdom
that is beneficial to all members. Check out Making an Impact Doesn't
Mean Using a Hammer: How to Share Federation Philosophy
Constructively by Jim Marks, and Driving the Affiliate: Some Musings
of a Former Affiliate President by J. W. Smith.

Congratulations to Lorraine Rovig, who is retiring from her staff
position at the National Center for the Blind. Her reminiscences of
her almost 40 years in the Federation will delight both long-time and
newer readers.

In an article from the Denver Post, Terri Cotton describes how Brent
and Ena Batron live the life they want. Brent and Ena are active
Federationists who are also raising five children. They don't let
blindness stand in their way.

The June Edition of the Monitor has several articles about access
technology. Get the latest information on our efforts with the Google
Corporation from three perspectives, and check out the tips from
Curtis Chong about the pros and cons of the iPhone as well as a
comparison of Windows and Mac computers.

These are just some highlights from this edition. Don't miss the
remaining articles in the June edition of the Braille Monitor.
