[NFBCS] VMWare Workstation Pro Sound Card Passthrough

Hi,

I can't say for Centos specifically, but Debian does allow me to use
software speech with Speakup without an issue inside of Vmware.

On the new M chip based macs at the moment there is an issue where the first
micro second of speech output gets chopped off, but that's not something you
have to worry about in Windows.

I usually use Debian as my local speech terminal and then ssh into whatever
system I wish to manage so that I don't need to modify the remote system at
all to gain access.

Tom

Subject: [NFBCS] VMWare Workstation Pro Sound Card Passthrough

Hi virtualization experts in the group.

I need to setup CentOS 7 (TL:DR it's for a legacy test, no need to explain
the EOL nature of CentOS). Does anyone hear know if speakup synthesizer can
pass the screen reader software synthesizer back to the host machine (Win 11
pro) successfully?

For example, Hyper-V even when following the recommendation can't pass
CentOS audio back to the host.

Alternatively if anyone is aware if Oracle VirtualBox can successfully pass
the synthesizer audio back to the host let me know. Trying to save some
time finding a solution.

Thanks!
