Does anyone know how to create an account in what is called mail in widows eight?

I am using windows live mail, but I understand that Windows live mail doesn’t really work well in Windows Eight. 

I tried to create an account in mail by inputting my sbcglobal password. It didn’t take. There is no field when I open up the mail icon that allows me to input my email address. 

Also, is mail jaws friendly?
