[gui-talk] Connecting to Linux from Windows 7 64-bit and JAWS 12

Folks,

At work, I am setting up a Windows 7 64-bit machine that needs to
communicate with a Linux (Red Hat 5.3) system. In my current XP computer, I
used the Japanese Teraterm program for a telnet client. This program was
last updated in 1997. It will not run in Windows 7 64-bit, not even in
compatibility mode. My company does not like telnet due to security issues.
I am trying to get Putty, in its ssh mode, to talk to the Linux environment.
Unfortunately, I am having trouble finding the cursor. I have set it to
blink. I am not sure if it is best to use an underscore, vertical line, or
block blinking cursor.

Does anyone have experience communicating with Linux from Windows 7 64-bits?
