[gui-talk] Captcha Alternatives

Hello Steve and everyone,

Project Honeypot may have error correction capability. I'll need to
explore that further. The IP check is just one of a number of tests
CFFormProtects performs to separate humans from robots. As I said we need to
gather information about plug-ins and utilities of this kind created for all
Web environments to evaluate them so we know their strengths and weaknesses.
Being able to keep this screening in the background would go a long way to
eliminating the accessibility issues posed by Captchas.

Peter,

I believe that we need to explore other options for CAPTCHAs. I'll have to
learn more about the Cold Fusion plug-in,
but the idea of comparing addresses with known spammers' addresses is not a
cure-all. Part of our trouble is that it is
hard to find a cure-all. I had an experience, for example, where my IP
Address was considered to be spam by
Baracuda Networks. They had a correction process, but it involved using a
CAPTCHA with no audio alternative, but
that's another story. Still, I have seen other IP Blocking systems that
have seriously inconvenienced individuals. Any
system needs to have a clear and quick way to correct errors without undoing
the security they are trying to provide.
Of course, if they have a clear process, there probably is nothing to
prevent spammers to overload that process out of
spite. Do you know if the Honeypot.com project has the ability to correct
errors?

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
