[gui-talk] Strange problem with Excel 2003

For my Toshiba laptop, bought last year, I turned on the Key Describer mode of Window-Eyes and tested a lot of keys. On that unit, Scroll Lock turned out to be FN Insert, where FN is the extra function key between the left Ctrl and Windows keys, and on that keyboard Insert is on the top row, six keys from the right end. This is a 15.5-inch wide-screen laptop which includes a numeric pad. I'm sure your laptop will be different, but I suggest exploring the combinations you would get with the Fn key. In my experience, though, scroll lock on locked a spreadsheet in all directions. Perhaps it would begin locking the right and left arrows when you reach the borders of the screen, but I'm not sure that scroll lock is your problem.

Subject: [gui-talk] Strange problem with Excel 2003

Hello all,

I have been having a strange problem with Excel 2003 since switching to Dell
XPS15 . I am unable to use the arrow keys to move between cells in an Excel file. The up and down arrow keys work, but not the left and right arrow
keys.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 today, but that did not resolve the problem. The problem may have to do either with an obscure key configuration or the scroll lock according to posts on online forums.
However, I am unable to locate the scroll lock key on my laptop.

Has anyone here with a laptop encountered a similar problem? If yes, is there a solution?

Many thanks.
Geetha
