Hi Allen,

To uninstall Winamp I would suggest trying the following:

1) Download and install the latest version of Winamp on the client's PC which
is currently version 5.581 over the top of the version that is proving
difficult to uninstall. During the installation of Winamp make sure not
to install the Winamp Remote feature or the Winamp toolbar.

2) Download the free edition of Revo Uninstaller from
www.revouninstaller.com and install it. Revo Uninstaller does a much
better job of uninstalling programs than the Add/Remove programs feature.

3) Then use Revo Uninstaller to try to uninstall Winamp.

The reason I'd suggest installing the latest version of Winamp is that
this will hopefully put an entry to uninstall Winamp back into
Add/Remove programs and make it easier to uninstall Winamp using
Revo Uninstaller.

I hope this helps.

Regards Steve.

A co-worker had installed Winamp 3.5 last year on her Windows XP-Pro
system and now she can't get rid of it.

I was trying to help her remove it but it doesn't show up in Add/Remove programs
and it has no uninstall item. I even removed Nullsoft from the registry but Winamp
still came back when she pressed enter to open a .wmv file.

I tried changing the association but Winamp came right back again when
she pressed enter on .wmv.

Can anyone help me to get rid of this pit bull-like program?
