[gui-talk] Skype 4.0 Accessibility

there has been yet another hotfix build released for skype 4.0 as of
april 22. The "known issues" still list accessibility features as not
completed in the current version and promise a version that includes
accessibility restored to be released "in the near future." This
"near future" has extended over the last three months. Is there any
indication of when a fully accessible version of skype 4.0 is going
to be released?

I know that skype 4.0 is considered usable and that usability for
jaws users is enhanced by Mr.Doug Lee's scripts for the program but
for those whose screenreaders have no scripts and lack a mouse
emulation,, like nvda, some of skype 4.0's features remain inaccessible.

I know that the people at skype themselves recommend that
screenreader users continue to use skype 3.8 until such time when
accessibility is implemented in skype 4.0. I have no major problem
with that except that I have always kept up with the latest version
of skype and hate to miss out on some of the new
features.Additionally, those on slow and/or capped connections would
benefit a lot by using skype 4.0 as it is said to consume less
bandwidth than previous versions. Several of my friends have such
capped conections and it would be good to be able to switch to skype
4.0 just to run up less bandwidth for them.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks much.

Doris
