Hi all,

J-Tunes version 4.1 to support iTunes version 8.1 is now available for
download from our web site.

A few quick reminders:
Don't forget to read the User Guide, particularly the sections on
installation.  The user guide can be downloaded from our web site on the
J-Tunes page.

Be sure to have iTunes 8.1 installed, again as stated in the User Guide.

Finally, if you are upgrading from J-Tunes 3 or 4, be sure to download
the upgrade program rather than the full install.  This will save you
time since you will not have to re-install your authorisation file.

Once again, our company along with our partners serving North America
and Canada (Next Generation Technologies Incorporated) have pleasure in
making this upgrade available to J-Tunes version 3X and 4X customers
free of charge, which we hope strengthens our commitment to ensure that
visually impaired people can benefit from enhancements to the iTunes
program together with iPods which have the ability to provide spoken
output to users.

This document contains:
*	A list of the new improvements to J-Tunes version 4.1;
*	Installation information;
*	A comparison table emphasising just some of the differences when
using JAWS with and without J-Tunes installed.

What's New in J-Tunes 4.1

Access to J-Tunes Using JAWS Version 7

J-Tunes 4.1 is now compatible with JAWS version 7!

This is excellent news for people who are unable to afford upgrading to
the latest release of JAWS.

It must be emphasised that there are some significant limitations when
using J-Tunes with JAWS version 7.0.  Most notably:
*	You will not be able to access any of the web pages within the
iTunes Store.  You will therefore not be able to read reviews of
albums/movies or purchase albums.  You will be able to purchase
individual music tracks and use the iTunes Browser to browse by genre or
artist.  A full explanation of purchasing individual tracks and using
the iTunes Browser is given later in this User Guide,.
*	You may find that the responsiveness when using JAWS version 7,
J-Tunes and iTunes is a little slower than with a later JAWS version.
In summary, the higher the version of JAWS being used, the more
responsive the J-Tunes product will be.

However if you need very high quality screen-reading access to iTunes
allowing you to import music from your CD collection, copy material to
your iPod, create playlists, listen to and manage podcasts, hear radio
stations and have some access to the iTunes Store with many useful
keystrokes and help, J-Tunes for JAWS version 7 is definitely for you.

It is strongly recommended that, prior to purchasing J-Tunes, you try
using the demonstration copy of the program to ensure you are satisfied
with its performance prior to purchase.  Certainly many J-Tunes
functions can be used with JAWS version 7.  

Focus Performance Enhancements

We are particularly pleased that, when navigating items in the Item (or
Track) List, JAWS is far more responsive than ever.  In addition, when
Dialog Boxes are brought into view (such as the Information Dialog Box
or when deleting a track), focus stays in the correct position within
the list.  A great deal of time has been spent ensuring that focus
tracking is particularly effective when using iTunes with J-Tunes.  Some
improvements have also been made to enhance reliability of spoken output
when the screen scrolls its contents.

Removal of Abbreviated Mode

J-Tunes version 4.0 had a function which could be enabled or disabled
entitled Abbreviated Mode.  This would attempt to condense some of the
information which JAWS would speak when navigating items, such as the
word "Name" prior to a track name and "Artist" before the name of a
group or artist.  This mode could be disabled in the event that a person
wanted to hear this information.

We have decided to remove this mode to avoid confusion.  When J-Tunes is
running, the items will always be abbreviated so you will not hear the
additional unwanted information as you move through the Item List.

iTunes DJ and Autofill Functions are Accessible

Selecting a Playlist for using with iTunes DJ or Autofilling an iPod is
not possible with the keyboard or when using JAWS without J-Tunes.
J-Tunes makes the selection process very easy to do.  For example when
using iTunes DJ, you can select a special Playlist you have prepared for
your party!

Status Area

The new iTunes Status Area (available when playing music tracks or to
give details of the currently selected Source List category) is now
correctly identified.  In addition, you can place the contents of each
Status Area component into the JAWS Virtual Viewer by pressing the
J-Tunes Key then the letter V.

J-Tunes Upgrade Program

It is now possible to upgrade J-Tunes from version 3.0 or 4.0 to 4.1
without having to re-install your J-Tunes Authorisation File which is
currently the case.

Documentation Updates

The J-Tunes documentation has been updated and enhanced with new added
topics.  For example, now that Autofill is so accessible with the
keyboard, we have spent time describing how to gain the most from it and
also the new iTunes DJ facility.
