[Colorado-Talk] Some Information About BallotTrax and Submitting Your Ballot

Greetings:

I have learned some important information about the relationship between
BallotTrax and returning your accessible ballot which might be of interest
to some people. As you may know, BallotTrax is the system which Colorado
voters (excluding voters in the City and County of Denver) can use to track
what happens to their ballot-from when the ballot is mailed to the time the
ballot is received and processed for counting. If, after printing your
accessible ballot and ballot application, you choose to send your ballot in
using the official ballot return envelope you received in the mail,
BallotTrax will acknowledge receipt of your ballot when you have sent it in
and send you a text message and/or an email notifying you of that fact. If,
on the other hand, you choose to send your ballot in using a regular
envelope on which you have written "OFFICIAL BALLOT ENCLOSED," the automated
systems which process ballot return envelopes will have nothing against
which to match, and thus, the ballot receipt will not be able to be recorded
and acknowledged by the BallotTrax system. Therefore, if you really want
up-to-the-minute notification of what is happening with your ballot, you are
best served by returning your ballot using the official, barcoded ballot
return envelope. This does not mean that your accessible ballot is not going
to be counted, only that it will not be tracked by BallotTrax.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong
