Subject: [NFBWATlk] Resolutions for 2024 NFB of Washington State Convention

Marci has appointed me to chair the 2024 Resolutions Committee of the
National Federation of the Blind of Washington.

If you have identified a problem experienced by the blind of Washington and
a solution for that problem, please draft a resolution and email to Colin
Wong at s.colin.wong at gmail.com <mailto:s.colin.wong at gmail.com> by February
28th. Only Microsoft Word or accessible PDF copies will be accepted.

Noel Nightingale of the Seattle chapter has written an excellent description
of resolutions and what it needs to compose of.

The format of a resolution is comprised of a set of WHEREAS clauses
separated by semicolons describing the factual basis of the problem and the
final WHEREAS.

clause ending with a colon. Then, comes the NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
clause laying out the solution. Bear in mind that we do not direct
ourselves.

in resolutions,, rather, the resolved clause should be directed at an
outside entity.

Deadline: February 28th

Reach out to Colin Wong at s.colin.wong at gmail.com
<mailto:s.colin.wong at gmail.com> or 480-886-4445 if there are any questions.

Resolutions meeting: February 29th, 7 pm (Open to all)

Location: Lewis and Clark Ballroom.

Purpose: The purpose of the resolutions committee meeting is for the
committee to read, evaluate, and vote regarding the efficacy and validity of
the resolution. If approved by the committee, the resolution will be
presented at general session for membership vote. No edits will be made, and
the resolution will be read as submitted. Approved resolutions determine
action items of the National Federation of the Blind of Washington for the
upcoming year and beyond.

Thank you,
