Subject: Colman Dock construction update

Starting on Saturday morning, Aug. 12, the King County Water Taxi
<http://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/transportation/water-taxi.aspx> and Kitsap
Transit Fast Ferry
<http://www.kitsaptransit.com/service/category/fast-ferry> will have a new
temporary home on the north side of Colman Dock at Pier 52. The temporary
facility will be in place until fall 2018 while Colman Dock Project
<http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/Ferries/ColmanMultimodalTerminal/> crews
build a brand new passenger-only ferry terminal
<http://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/transportation/water-taxi/colman-dock-renov
ation.aspx#upgrading-terminal> on the south side of Colman Dock.

Construction activities planned Aug. 14-28

* Beginning Aug. 14, crews will begin demolition work on the
passenger-only facility on the south side of Colman Dock. Additional work
includes removing sections of the south trestle (Bremerton side) to prepare
for future pile driving work to support the new terminal building.

What to expect during this work

*	Aug. 13-14 - Overnight work to expand work zone: Neighbors may hear
trucks and equipment overnight Sunday/Monday while crews move barrier and
extend the work zone to the edge of the right-turn lane of the Yesler Way
exit from Colman Dock. Signs will direct cyclists to merge into the vehicle
exit lanes. Shifting the fence allows crews the room they need to build the
new passenger-only ferry terminal to be complete in fall 2018.
*	Week of Aug. 21 - Sidewalk detour in place: The construction zone
fence and barrier expands out a bit farther this week to cover the sidewalk
on the southwest corner of Alaskan Way and Yesler Way. Pedestrians and
cyclists will need to cross Alaskan Way on the north side of Yesler Way for
the duration of construction of the new passenger-only ferry terminal.
*	Aug. 14-28: Neighbors, ferry customers (and drivers along SR 99!)
can expect to see large barge-mounted cranes and demolition equipment along
the south side of the trestle.

Thank you for your interest in our project to replace our old and
seismically-vulnerable flagship terminal on Seattle
<https://www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/ferries/colmanmultimodalterminal/> 's
waterfront. If you have questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Broch Bender
