As a Youth Service Program Specialist in a Regional Office of the Administration on Children, Youth, and Families; Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), Program Support Division you will provide advice and assistance to Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) grantees and the department's youth initiatives.

DUTIES:

 *   Provide advice and assistance to Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) grantees, professionals, youth servicing organizations, and general public.
 *   Serve as a regional liaison and provide advice and technical assistance to grantees of the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) programs in the respective regions and transmits information to grantees and other partners on the Bureau's activities.
 *   Provide support to the process of awarding and monitoring new grants with a focus on youth development/youth oriented programs.
 *   Provide technical assistance to grantees that may need to improve their programmatic or organizational practices.
 *   Provide guidance and oversight for the day-to-day operations of assigned grants and contracts administered by FYSB.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Applicants must meet one of the Basic Requirement AND the Specialized Experience listed below.

Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C):
A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Please provide transcripts)
B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Please provide transcript)
C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Specialized Experience:
GS-11: At least one year specialized experience, equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service that included participating in the monitoring runaway and homeless youth or youth development programs to ensure compliance with policy standards and objective work plans; evaluating and analyzing the technical performance of grantees; responding to program inquiries verbally and in writing; OR possess a Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with major study in public health or a field of study with coursework directly related to the work of the position or LL.M. if related (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS); OR possess a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS).

GS-12: At least one year specialized experience, equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service that included monitoring runaway and homeless youth or youth development programs to ensure compliance with policy standards and objective work plans; evaluating and analyzing the technical performance and financials of grantees; responding to program inquiries verbally and in writing.

This position requires specific coursework and/or a degree to meet the basic education requirement.
