I do not know of bill or bill number. you just need to tell state that we
need funding for transit now.

Ben and Jacob,
You said to call the legislature regarding funding for a transportation
package. What is the bill called so I will know what I'm talking about when
I call?

Thanks. Julie

Today Metro released a proposal that details how we would reduce up to 17
percent of our service. We've cut costs, raised fares, and become more
efficient to preserve most service over the past five years. But temporary
funding authority from the state expires in June, and unless action is
taken
on stable funding, Metro must plan now for drastic service reductions that
would begin next year.

. 74 routes would be deleted.
. 107 routes would be changed.
. 33 routes would be unchanged but would likely become more crowded.

The proposal also deletes 150 daily bus trips primarily between West
Seattle
and downtown Seattle - buses that ease congestion during the Alaskan Way
Viaduct project. These trips are at risk of being canceled in June if
state
funding is not extended.
We invite you to learn more and talk with us directly about the proposed
cuts over the next few months before the King County Council considers a
final recommendation in spring 2014. Find out how your bus would be
affected
and complete an online survey on Metro's service cuts page. Talk with us
at
public meetings and other outreach events throughout the county. (Schedule
online.) On social media channels, riders can use #KCMetroCuts to join the
conversation.

Jacob has been telling us all along that the transportation package is
being
considered. Now that the Governor has cleverly gotten it considered along
with the rest of the Boeing package, we need to contact our legislators to
strongly encourage their adoption of a comprehensive transportation
package
to include public transit. When metro came out with its cuts today, it
became apparent that if we don't get involved, we the blind may be sitting
at home after 6:00 P.M. Night life? What's that? Call the hot line at
1-800-562-6000 to urge your legislator to support transportation.

I'm Bennett Prows, and I approved this message. It's nonpartisan, so as a
federal employee I can do this. (grin.)
