Subject: [wtbbl] Planned outages of BARD website

Dear Patrons and Friends,

This weekend there is a planned outage at the National Library Service for
the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS - http://www.loc.gov/nls/), the
organization that provides access to the national downloadable audio book
website, Braille and Audio Reading Downloads (BARD), and downloadable
braille, Web-Braille to our patrons. BARD, Web-Braille and the NLS catalog
will be closed for maintenance from 2:00 PM Friday, November 9, 2012 to 3:00
AM Tuesday, November 13, 2012. All times are in Pacific Standard.

On Monday, November 26, 2012 there will be an outage of only the BARD
website and the Web-braille site. This outage will bring many new and
exciting changes to BARD. The biggest change will be the merging of
Web-Braille with the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) system! All
audio books and Web-Braille books will now be on the same website:
nlsbard.loc.gov <https://nlsbard.loc.gov/> .

If you are a Web-Braille user, be sure to sign up for your BARD account so
you can still access your braille files! Sign up here:
https://nlsbard.loc.gov/cgi-bin/public/nlsbardprod/accountrequest.cgi?libcod
e=NLS. Other additions include a Wishlist and a My Previous Downloads link.

To learn more about downloading please visit our website:
http://www.wtbbl.org/DownloadAudioBooks.aspx or call the library at
206-615-0400 (toll-free in Washington: 800-542-0866).

Have a wonderful weekend,

WTBBL
