Hi Alco, I agree.  Being kind and courteous works both ways.  
There's a time to make peace, and a time to make war.  I think 
asking the store is a great idea.  A arice smile and friendly 
chatter with the clerks help, too.  By the time I left Portland, 
I knew the clerk's first name (Nathan) and that he was a 
part-time college student, working his way through school.
