[nfbwatlk] State Budget Transit Funding

Very well. As I say, I sympathize. Good public transportation helps all those who cannot drive. I only doubt that we'll get an optimum funding solution this legislative session.

We can but try.

This was not my personal plea it came from Transportation for Washington. Here is some information about them.

Transportation for Washington is working to build livable communities in Washington State by connecting people with transit to where they live, work, and play.

A coalition effort led by Futurewise and Transportation Choices Coalition.

Balance is in the mind of the beholder. I do not argue with your plea. But
the fact remains and will remain that the majority of voters drive, at least
as long as we tend to live in the burbs. So I suspect (especially this year)
that her request is about as good as we're going to see.

On Tuesday, Gov Gregoire proposed a $3.6 billion transportation package that
dedicates 72% to roads and 4% to transit. Amazingly this is a step forward
from the past, but well-short of being balanced. The legislature will now
consider the proposal. Please email your legislator and ask them to balance
the package and then pass it.
