Seahawks Face Another Old AFC West Rival on Sunday

[cid:image001.jpg at 01CB5BCA.F0FBDB30]The Seahawks take on their second consecutive AFC West opponent this Sunday at 1:15 p.m. (PT) when San Diego visits Qwest Field. The game will be televised on CBS (channel 7 in Seattle) and broadcast on 97.3 FM and 710 ESPN Radio in Seattle. Seattle dropped a 31-14 decision last week in Denver.

Calling the game for CBS will be Ian Eagle with Dan Fouts handling commentary. Fouts is the all-time series leader in passing yards between the two teams with a 440-yard performance on 29 of 43 passing with four touchdowns and one interception in a 49-35 Chargers loss on September 15, 1985 in San Diego.

This week's game against the Chargers will mark the 49th time the two clubs have squared off in the regular season with Seattle holding a 25-23 series edge. Playing twice a year from 1978-2001, San Diego is the only former AFC West opponent that Seattle owns a winning record. Seattle is 18-34 vs. Denver, 18-31 vs. Kansas City and 23-27 vs. Oakland.

Since re-alignment in 2002, the teams have played only twice, each winning on the opponent's home turf. In the last meeting on December 24, 2006 in Seattle, San Diego used a late-game drive that saw Philip Rivers throw a 37-yard touchdown strike to Vincent Jackson with :29 left on the clock to win the game, 20-17.
