Subject: Great News, Great Work
Hi everyone--

Thanks for your notes to CM O'Brien! It seems to have worked.

According to Publicola
(http://www.facebook.com/l/34931f5h558SuTkfhImiPK9xCyg;www.publicola.net/201
0/07/28/obrien-to-introduce-five-amendments-putting-limits-on-tunnel-resolut
ion/), Councilmember O'Brien will be introducing an amendment regarding the
MVET to the Council's tunnel agreement. Here's what Erica C. Barnett
reported:

"[The] Second [amendment says] the state would have to give King County the
authority to raise taxes to pay for additional express and RapidRide bus
service to downtown as part of the viaduct replacement project. Last year,
Gov. Chris Gregoire, then-King County Executive Ron Sims, and then-mayor
Greg Nickels signed a letter that said all three parties "support efforts to
obtain state legislative authority for King County to implement a 1% Motor
Vehicle Excise Tax" to pay for an estimated $190 million in capital costs
and $15 million in annual operating expenses."

Now it's time to let other Councilmembers know that you support this
amendment: nick.licata at seattle.gov, jean.godden at seattle.gov,
tom.rasmussen at seattle.gov, richard.conlin at seattle.gov,
sally.clark at seattle.gov, bruce.harrell at seattle.gov, tim.burgess at seattle.gov,
sally.bagshaw at seattle.gov, mike.obrien at seattle.gov.

Whether you want more jobs, more people coming to downtown, better
environmental protections or a more socially responsible project, this
provision is a win all the way around.

Thanks
Brice
