Yes, it's time again to sign your students up for the Braille
Challenge!!!

And ... Yes it is going to "happen" in four locations throughout
Washington!!!!

Date: January 16th, 2009

Location: Spokane (address and directions to follow later).

Date: January 26th, 2009

Location: Seattle Public Library (address and directions to follow

later)

Date: January 31st, 2009

Location: Pierce Community College

(Address and Directions to follow later)

Date: February 13th, 2009

Location: Edith Bishel Center in Kennewick (Address and directions to
follow later).

Time: 9:00 AM to 3:00

There are five levels of testing:

Apprentice: grades 1 and 2 using either contracted or uncontracted
Braille

Freshman: Grades 3 and 4 using contracted Braille

Sophomore: Grades 5 and 6 using contracted Braille

Junior Varsity: Grades 7 - 9 using contracted Braille; and

Varsity: grades 10 - 12 using contracted Braille

These are the official rules. However, if you have a student that is
not quite up to the "official" standards (set by the Braille Institute)
please encourage your student to participate anyway. We can order tests
either in contracted or uncontracted Braille at the level your student
requires.

Please send names, addresses, age of student, and grade level to me
before the Christmas break. I can order tests up to the week prior to
testing, however the earlier the better.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Please forward to anyone, in Washington, that you know that might not be
on the listserv.

If you are interested in serving as a proctor, scorer, or volunteer,
please let me know that, too.
