Research Participation Request: Constructing the Harm Model for 
People with Disability in Social VR

The below research participant solicitation is being provided for 
informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has 
no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may 
contribute to our research mission.



Research Title: Constructing the Harm Model for People with 
Disability in Social VR

Being conducted by: Virginia Tech University, with funding from NSF



Purpose of the Study

The purpose of this study is to understand how people with 
disabilities (PWD) experience and perceive disability-related 
harassment in social virtual reality (VR) environments, and to design 
effective protection mechanisms tailored to their needs.



Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study

Participants will complete an online survey reflecting on their 
harassment experiences in social VR.

The survey will take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete.



Proposed Participant Compensation

Yes, Participants will receive a $10 compensation upon completing the 
survey. Compensation will be provided after your response is 
validated, and we will contact you with further details.
