Applications for Blind and Low-vision people

informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has

Research Title: Accessibility of Instant Messaging Applications for
Blind and Low-vision people
Being conducted by: University of Texas at San Antonio
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of my study is to investigate the accessibility of
privacy features in instant messaging applications for blind and
low-vision individuals. I aim to understand participants'
experiences, challenges, and strategies when navigating these
features. By learning from their firsthand perspectives, I hope to
identify specific accessibility barriers and gather insights that can
inform the design of more inclusive and privacy-conscious communication tools.
Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study
Participants in the study will take part in a one-on-one interview,
either virtually or by phone, where they will be asked about their
experiences using privacy features in instant messaging applications.
The questions will focus on accessibility, ease of use, and any
challenges or workarounds they have encountered. Each interview is
expected to take approximately 30 to 60 minutes (not more than 90 minutes).
Proposed Participant Compensation
Yes, Each participant will get a $30 amazon gift card as compensation.
