Subject: East McLoughlin Boulevard Safety Improvement Project Evaluation

Hi, Matthew,

I hope you and your community are doing as well as possible during these strange times!

The City of Vancouver is currently working to understand people's experience with the East McLoughlin Boulevard Safety Improvement Project by evaluating the project through summer 2021. City staff is hoping to share information with the National Federal for the Blind community in Vancouver on some opportunities to learn more about the evaluation and share your thoughts on the project.

The East McLoughlin Boulevard Safety Improvement Project is the result of a multi-year effort to plan, design, and construct or implement a street that will improve safety for all users—people walking, biking, and driving. Over the last few years, City staff worked with residents and community stakeholders to design project elements that would meet the City’s goals of creating safer streets while also being sensitive to the needs of the users along the corridor.

A series of improvements were constructed in 2019, including both permanent and temporary, or “pilot,” elements. The traffic calming and enhanced pedestrian crossings are permanent elements, and the buffered bike lanes are pilot elements. The existing sharrows, which were preserved through construction, are also being evaluated as part of this project as a pilot element.

The City is working to understand people’s experience with these improvements and how these changes have impacted safety for everyone who travels. There are several ways for people in your organization to share their thoughts on the project as part of the evaluation:

*	Take the survey at https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/5833554/E-McLoughlin-Blvd-Safety-Improvement-Project
*	Comment on the project feedback map at https://www.beheardvancouver.org/McLoughlinSafetyProject/maps/mcloughlinsafetyprojectfeedbackmap
*	Register to participate in a live, virtual question & answer session (email mcloughlinsafety at cityofvancouver.us <mailto:mcloughlinsafety at cityofvancouver.us> with your name and any accommodations necessary)

Staff would be happy to conduct a brief phone interview with you to better understand you and your community’s experience with the improvements. Please let me know what would work best for your community and whether any additional materials or methods would be helpful.

You can learn more about the project and input opportunities on the project Be Heard Vancouver web page (https://www.beheardvancouver.org/McLoughlinSafetyProject) and the general project web page (https://www.cityofvancouver.us/ced/page/east-mcloughlin-area-safety-improvement-project).

Thank you,

Anna Dearman
