I was wondering about this ten years ago when I was an active musician! Please keep us updated, because I'm genuinely curious what allows you to work well with Jaws and Voice Over!

Subject: [Trainer-Talk] Feedback On DJ Equipment and Software

Greetings,

I=E2=80=99m in the process of launching a mobile DJ business as a side = hustle=E2=80=94something fun that also allows me to generate some extra = income. I would like your feedback. I=E2=80=99ve already gathered some core equipment and have identified the remaining items I need to = get started. Here=E2=80=99s a quick snapshot of what I currently have:

Current Equipment:

list of 7 items
=E2=80=A2 Mackie ProFX6v3 Plus Audio Mixer (with Bluetooth)
=E2=80=A2 Windows 11 Laptop, iPhone, and iPad Pro (2nd Gen)
=E2=80=A2 VirtualDJ on my laptop
=E2=80=A2 Djay Pro on my iPad as a backup
=E2=80=A2 Tidal subscription (works with VirtualDJ, not Djay Pro on iOS)
=E2=80=A2 Apple Music (works with Djay Pro, not VirtualDJ)
=E2=80=A2 I=E2=80=99m exploring Rekordbox and Serato DJ, but I=E2=80=99m = unsure about their screen reader compatibility and hesitant to pay = without confirming accessibility.
list end

Still Needed:

list of 10 items
=E2=80=A2 Powered speakers or a full sound system (Mackie Thumps or = something comparable)
=E2=80=A2 Quality wired headphones for monitoring
=E2=80=A2 XLR and power cables
=E2=80=A2 Power strips or surge protectors
=E2=80=A2 Speaker stands
=E2=80=A2 DJ controller (Pioneer FLX4 preferred)
=E2=80=A2 Table, chair, gaff tape
=E2=80=A2 Collapsible wagon for easy equipment transport
=E2=80=A2 Gig bag or case for cables and accessories
=E2=80=A2 Lighting and rigging (for a future phase) list end

Additional Setup Needs:

list of 4 items
=E2=80=A2 Reliable driver for gigs
=E2=80=A2 E-payment platforms (Cash App, PayPal, Venmo)
=E2=80=A2 Booking website, email setup, and social media presence
=E2=80=A2 Bookkeeping and income tracking system list end

My biggest challenge right now is finding software that is fully = accessible to blind or visually impaired users using screen readers. = VirtualDJ seems to work well, especially since I can route JAWS output through a separate = sound card so it doesn=E2=80=99t play over the main speakers. However, = I=E2=80=99m having trouble doing the same with VoiceOver on iOS. Specifically, I need a way to = route VoiceOver audio output separately so it doesn't interfere with the = sound going to the audience.

I want to make sure that I am being smart with my money when investing = in these resources. If anyone has experience with this setup or can = point me toward helpful resources, accessible software options, or = workarounds, I=E2=80=99d truly appreciate your input.

Thanks in advance for your time and support.
Kind regards,

Michael Evers
