Subject: NFB Career Fair
Dear Colleagues:
On February 21, 2008, the Jernigan Institute will host its third-annual
Transition to Independence Career Fair for Blind and Low Vision Students
in Grades 7-12. Students will be surrounded by successful blind role
models as they attend workshops on topics such as how to make a good
first impression and advocate for themselves. Parents and teachers will
also attend workshops about resources to help them in the right
direction. The Career Fair has been a tremendous success in reaching
out to high school students and showing them what is possible.
During this year's fair, we would like to invite representatives from
our affiliates interested in hosting their own fair to attend the event.
If you choose to attend, you will be able to observe the flow of the
program, as well as the positive effect it has on the attendees. We
will also provide you with a how-to manual to take home with you.
If you, or a representative from your affiliate, are interested in
attending or if you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you so
much! I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Karen C. Zakhnini
