Subject: Walmart: feedback needed
The following request for feedback appeared on a number of the NFB lists and
I apologise for the cross-post if you have already received it. It is
important that blind people make their voices heard when they have the
opportunity so, I am passing this on so that you may respond if you have a
story and wish to share it.
Regards,
Heather Field
Dear members of the blind community:
Last year, as many of you know, the ACB, AFB and CCB reached an >agreement
with Walmart under which the company agreed to replace
their flat screen point of sale devices with units that have tactile
keys. The agreement provides that once a year Walmart will meet with
representatives of the three organizations to discuss the tactile
keypad roll-out as well as any other issues in Walmart stores of
concern to the blind community.
We are preparing for this year's meeting, and are asking for feedback
about your shopping experiences at Walmart -- both good, bad and in
between. Please send comments to Lainey Feingold and Linda Dardarian
at mailto:lfeingold at earthlink.net or leave a message at 800.332.6177
We continue to work with other major retailers on installing tactile
keypad point of sale devices so that blind shoppers can enter their
PIN and other private information without having to disclose it to a
store clerk. If you have questions about our efforts to date, or
concerns about a particular company, you can contact us at the email
and phone listed above.
Thanks,
Lainey Feingold
