I'm also new to this list, but not to NFB.  i reside in
Fayette county.

My lady and I were basically blown up here by Katrina from
NEw ORleans.  oUr house and all of its contents were lost to
a fire which occurred when they turned on the electricity
after the storm.  We were ham radio communications people
working for University and Charity hospitals in NEw ORleans
and then evacuated to SAn Antonio.  WHile I was working on
getting some gear together to be certified as emergency
communications people again (vhf and uhf gear had to be
purchased) they fired up the juice and our home burned.

Before that, was a student at the IOwa Commission for the
BLind ORientation center in 1975, so got to  work closely
with Dr. JErnigan over the years.

WAs too active in other facets of life, chairman of church
board, ham radio activities, making a living, so never
really became active in the NEw ORleans chapter.  Last real
active period for me with nfb was in the '90's.

CUrious if anybody from the MEmphis chapter is on thislist
and has info for me on time and place of chapter meetings.
