[stylist] friday word: affable

Thanks for starting this again. I always enjoyed it. I wonder if anyone ever
uses this as a noun ... as in, "affability is an admirable characteristic."

I've decided to start the Word of the Day again that Brad Dunsé and I used
to do about two years ago.  I thought that it generated lots of great
discussion on this list, regarding the use of the word or how the word was
pronounced.  I will be using words from my SAT vocab sheet, Reader's Digest,
the dictionary and any interesting words I read in a book or online.
affable
pronounced like a-fuh-bull
adjective
friendly, easy-going.
The man was always an affable soul who was always willing to help his
friends in need.
