regardless of whether or not the phone is in a case, I would recommend
closing the camera as it tends to stay active in the background thus
draining battery. In other word, technically you could leave the camera open
as the lens is being protected by the polarizers, however, closing it will
ensure that you are not draining battery. One thing to note that I didn't
mention in my last message concerning cases is that it is probably not a
good idea to purchase a case with any magnet
clasps as the magnet tends to activate the camera for some reason.
