David and Garry;
I also did not find out about model B until after National in 07 and I
got on the list. We were not given a choice. My problem happened when
leaving for MD state. I had it plugged in until I left work. I took it
out Saturday night and it would not do any thing. This was only 2.5
days at the most. I called a friend who had one and he helped me
determine the problem. I thought it might have gotten seperated again.
How much battery life should we expect. That sure seams short, since I
did not use it at all.

Terry:
Hold your shock! When the device was first developed, the calibration
was necessary. It was the only way. It isn't that common anyway.
Now, the technology has improved, and as I understand it, calibration
isn't necessary on the newer units.
It was not done on purpose to confound people, it was the best the
technology had to offer at the time, and it has since improved.

Dave;
First of all, why didn't they tell us about this recalibration problem
when we bought the machine. I am really shocked they would make a
machine for the blind that we can not recalibrate ourselves. A reset
could have been created like in the Humanware devices, so we could
recalibrate the unit ourselves. It took me for ever to find someone who
I could trust and match them up with someone to give them instructions
on the calibration procedure. I now keep my unit plugged in when ever
not in use.
