[Reader-users] Does The Scanning And Recognition In The New Reader Take Place Completely Within The Unit?

I believe I know the answer, but don't want to give out mis-information.
On a chat the other day someone said he had heard that the image was sent
from the new Reader to a server where it was scanned, recognized, and
results returned to the reader. He questioned how this might be done in an
environment where there might be difficulty getting a signal from the point
of origin to the server location and back again. He later heard that
scanning and recognition take place within the unit itself.
I believe I understand that the modified phone is entirely responsible for
capturing and interpreting the image, but since there is obviously incorrect
information being disseminated, whichever scenario is correct, I told the
person I would double-check and let him know. This discussion took place
informally, but we all know this is how rumors get started.
Please let me know so I can tell the world! <lol> As I write this I'm
remembering there's a recording of Mr. Gashel's presentation. I suppose I
can send that to the person. Would someone please send the link, as I am
not sure whether I saved it; and others may have missed it as well.
Thanks in advance.
Pam
