No, that is wrong. The polarizer is permanently attached to the phone.
There is no reason to detach it.

Does this mean the polarizers are physical accessories to the phone
hardware? So I can't just whip the phone out of my purse and snap a pic or
read a document without removing or replacing this polarizer?
Curious -- if the polarizer is software then how does it work?

The polarizers do not affect the acamerain any way other than reducing glare
when you are trying to photograph text.
