[Reader-users] Are there any updates due for the standardreader?

I am thinking that whatever hardware you get will be out of date in the
not-too-distant future. So whenever you take the plunge and buy a unit,
within a year things will expand out in another direction. I am just
wondering how much longer the classic model will be supported actively.
I'm comparing this to freedom scientific and their notetakers. I took the
plunge and bought a Millennium back when packmate was on the drawing board,
and figured I was out of luck when it became obsolete, but they are still
supporting it even now, and while it is kind of a joke, they still sold it
last year at the $5000 price tag, despite being hopelessly out of date.
As for the knfb reader, I predict the classic model will be supported for a
while -- hopefully a long while -- but that its feature set won't be
changing -- bug fix only maintenance. This is not because they won't want to
spend much effort on it so much as that the newer hardware will have many
more bells and whistles and power to exploit, and so new features will
appear not possible or at least implemented on the lassic model.
Happy reading all.

part of the problem beyond that the reader software has pretty much
maxed out the hardware, is 1 Fujitsu has completely stopped making
pocket pcs. 2 pocket pcs don't have usb host which is what is needed to
use an external camera. The mobile market basically goes through a
generation every 18 months. The industry is all going towards
convergence which means everything all in one device. I think in the end
moving to the cellphone platform will clearly be for the better.
