[Reader-users] Insuring Mobile Reader

Just a story to ponder. A friend of mine had added a piece of assistive
technology on his home owners policy as his policy covered $50,000 of
personal property. I forget whether it was lost or stolen, but in his
travels the unit was gone. The insurance company refused to pay the claim
because according to them the unit would have to be lost or damaged due to
catastrophe in the home.

Insurance companies love to collect premiums, but hate to pay claims. We
have flood coverage on our policy and when we had a big rain storm and a
back up in the basement the insurance company refused to pay for the clean
up because it was sewage back up and according to them not due to an act of
nature, which I argue the rain storm, but they point out sewage pipes.
